Welcome to the website of Truffle Consulting Services!

Who We Are: The team at Truffle Consulting Services offers years of experience in truffle ecology, taxonomy and identification, truffle farm establishment, teaching, presenting, and leading interpretive mycological tours.

Here's what we can do for you:

Nature Photography: We have an enormous portfolio of fabulous high resolution photographs of truffles and mushrooms, orchids and other flowers, animals, and natural and urban landscapes. We sell disks with all of our best images (over 500 and counting!) for a paltry $15, shipping included. That's less than three cents per image! The quality is suitable for printing and framing (5 megapixel), but they're best enjoyed by loading them into your Windows or Apple built-in screensaver program. For another $5 we'll add a PowerPoint slideshow of over 250 stunning mushroom and truffle images, each image with the genus and species name so you can learn to recognize them in the field. Truffle Farm Establishment and Consulting: We have years of experience and unparalleled expertise in the establishment of truffle farms. We can analyze your land for suitability, connect you with suppliers of inoculated seedlings, and refer you to analytical labs that perform assays of mycorrhizal root colonization of your trees.

Truffle and Mycology Presentations: We can offer tailored presentations to your club, group, or class on any subject of mycology, though we specialize in truffle ecology, taxonomy, history, and gastronomy. Presentations can be introductory or highly technical depending on your audience. They are professionally delivered with lots of great images and anecdotes, with plenty of opportunity for participants to have all their questions answered.

Truffle and Mushroom Hunting Tours: We can lead your group on a truffle hunt. Truffles can be found almost anywhere there are trees, so you don't need to come to us - we'll come to you! We also collaborate with the good folks at Shirewood Farm, a certified organic truffle farm in Cottage Grove, OR. Hunting for truffles is lots of fun and a great excuse to get out in nature. We have years of experience leading truffle hunts and can guarantee your group will have an enjoyable and educational day looking for hidden treasures. With positive identification of your edible finds you can enjoy them without reservation. We also offer Matsutake hunting exursions in season. Combine a truffle hunt with mycological presentations and a short course on truffle taxonomy and identification for a weekend workshop package.

Truffle Identification: We can identify truffles that you find and let you know if they have any culinary value.

Truffle Surveys: We can survey your land for mycological resources and let you know what potential your land has for truffle production, either natural or cultivated. We are a federally registered contractor and have the academic background and research experience to perform rigorous assessment of your land's mycological flora with statistical analysis as appropriate.
